Storing Foods

3 June 2020 / Posted in Be FoodWise

Storing food correctly in your fridge or freezer is one of the best ways to reduce food waste. It’s sometimes difficult to know whether food needs to be tossed or composted, or if it’s still good to consume, especially if its been stored for a while.

As a basic rule, ensure all foods are sealed correctly and if it's a freezer meal, add a label with a date. And if you’re ever in doubt, trust your nose. If the odour seems off, or there’s a change in appearance, don’t risk it, rather discard.

Keep in mind that when freezing foods for a long period, flavours and textures will begin to deteriorate.
